About the Initiative

Convening world-class thinkers to chart a path forward through unprecedented disruption.

Our Mission

Managing the Disruption brings together leaders from business, academia, government, foundations, and nonprofits to address the most pressing adaptive challenges of our time. We believe that the current pace of technological and cultural change demands new frameworks for understanding, new models for governance, and new strategies for ensuring that the benefits of progress reach all members of society.

Our approach is interdisciplinary and action-oriented. We don't just study disruption — we develop practical strategies for managing it. By connecting people across sectors who rarely interact, we create the cross-pollination of ideas necessary to solve problems that no single institution or discipline can address alone.

Why This Matters Now

The convergence of artificial intelligence, automation, climate change, demographic shifts, and political polarization creates a uniquely challenging moment in human history. Each of these forces is transformative on its own. Together, they create a compounding effect that overwhelms traditional systems of governance, education, and economic organization.

Previous eras of disruption — the Industrial Revolution, the rise of the automobile, the dawn of the internet — played out over decades, giving societies time to adapt. Today's disruptions are simultaneous, interconnected, and accelerating. The window for proactive adaptation is narrowing. We need to act now, together, with intelligence and urgency.

Our Approach

We convene structured dialogues, publish research, and develop policy recommendations focused on three areas: workforce transformation, institutional resilience, and democratic renewal. Our work is non-partisan and evidence-based, drawing on the latest research in technology, economics, political science, and organizational behavior to develop actionable insights for leaders at every level.
